I have wanted to go to the Lofoten Islands in North Norway winter for a few years now. I'd found a suitable organised trip but it was fully booked so I decided to do it myself.
I spent a weekend in Oslo first visiting the museums on the Bygdøy peninsular which were very interesting particularly the Viking Ship museum. I then flew up to Lofoten hired a fully winterised car and stayed at Reine which must have one of the most spectacular mountain vistas in the World.
